An Azerbaijani delegation led by Elchin Rzayev, Head of the Imishli District Executive Authority, participated as honored guests at the 64th International Flower Festival in Namangan, Uzbekistan.
The visit came at the invitation of Uzbek officials and served as a platform for advancing regional cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
As part of the official itinerary, the delegation visited the park named after Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev in Tashkent, where they laid flowers at his monument in a gesture of respect and remembrance.
During the trip, the Azerbaijani delegation held a formal meeting with Shavkat Abdurazakov, Governor of Namangan Province. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the economic, social, and cultural spheres, with both sides reaffirming the deep-rooted strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The relationship-built on shared historical, ethnic, and moral values-was highlighted as a model of effective regional collaboration.
A key topic of the meeting was the growing cooperation between Imishli District and Namangan Province. The officials reviewed the implementation of a contract signed on July 12, 2024, between Uzbekistan’s “TST Textile Group” LLC and the Imishli District Executive Authority. Under the agreement, 5,826 hectares of farmland have been leased long-term for cotton production, processing, and the construction of a cottonseed oil facility.
The sides exchanged views on the progress of the project, its phased rollout, and potential avenues for future partnership in agricultural and industrial development.
The following day, the Azerbaijani delegation took part in the 64th International Flower Festival itself. They toured a diverse range of floral installations, decorative exhibits from various countries, and cultural performances. The artistry and innovation of the festival’s displays left a strong impression on the visitors, celebrating both creativity and international friendship.
