Azerbaijani authorities have extradited a man from Montenegro who was wanted under an international arrest warrant on fraud charges, the Prosecutor General's Office said.
The suspect, Khidayat Suleymanov, was charged in 2024 with fraud related to the alleged acquisition of another person's property through deception and abuse of trust, which caused significant financial damage, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.
Investigators identified Suleymanov in Montenegro, after which Azerbaijani prosecutors submitted a request for his extradition. Following cooperation between the two countries, Montenegro approved the transfer of the suspect to Azerbaijan.
Suleymanov was transported from the Montenegrin coastal city of Tivat to Azerbaijan on Tuesday. Upon arrival, he was detained and placed in a pre-trial detention facility based on a court order while further legal proceedings are underway.
