Azerbaijan Joins Major Cultural Events in Uzbekistan Celebrating Turkic Heritage

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Culture Minister Adil Karimli is taking part in a series of high-profile international cultural events in Uzbekistan, highlighting the growing cultural ties between the two countries and the wider Turkic world.

The visit includes participation in the 3rd International Maqom Art Forum in Namangan and the opening ceremony of “Andijan - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2026”, two major events dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening international cooperation, The Caspian Post reports via Azertac.

Held under the auspices of UNESCO and ICESCO, the International Maqom Art Forum brings together musicians, scholars and cultural figures from around the world to celebrate Maqom, one of the most treasured genres of Eastern classical music.

Running through June 26, the forum aims to promote, preserve and develop the centuries-old musical tradition while fostering cultural, scientific and creative collaboration across borders. The program includes concerts, academic conferences, master classes and discussions featuring leading experts and performers.

The Azerbaijani delegation will also attend the launch of Andijan’s year as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in 2026, a designation intended to showcase the rich cultural legacy shared by Turkic nations.
