Azerbaijan’s diplomatic mission in Syria is actively fostering educational collaboration.
Chargé d’Affaires of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Syria Elnur Shahhuseynov met with Rector of Damascus University Mustafa Saem Aldaher to discuss opportunities for establishing direct cooperation between Damascus University and higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
Azerbaijan and Syria have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992.
Over the years, both countries have cooperated in areas such as trade, culture, education, and energy. While bilateral trade remains modest, efforts have been made to strengthen economic ties, particularly in agriculture and construction. Cultural and academic exchanges, including collaboration between universities, play an important role in fostering mutual understanding. Despite regional instability affecting Syria in recent years, Azerbaijan has maintained diplomatic engagement and continued exploring avenues for cooperation, signaling a commitment to long-term partnership.
