Drone Attacks Tugboat Near Ukraine's Odesa, Killing Two Azerbaijani Sailors

A tugboat operating near the Ukrainian port of Odesa in the Black Sea was attacked by a drone, resulting in the deaths of two Azerbaijani sailors.

The EDY tugboat, owned by Mert Marine Corporation and sailing under the Somali flag, was attacked on September 10 morning, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The vessel had a crew of 10 people at the time of the initial incident. Four were Azerbaijani citizens, three were Turkish citizens, two were German citizens and one was a Ukrainian citizen.

Later that night, while the vessel was sailing toward the Romanian port of Constanța, it came under two additional drone attacks.

Two Azerbaijani sailors, Aslan Aliyev and Asim Gasimov, were killed in the attacks.

Two other Azerbaijani crew members were reportedly injured and taken to a hospital in Odesa, where they are currently receiving treatment.
