German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has described Azerbaijan as an important partner for Germany in the South Caucasus, highlighting the country's strategic role in energy and economic cooperation following talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Berlin.
The leaders focused on bilateral relations, the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, and pressing regional and international issues, The Caspian Post reports via Steinmeier's message on Facebook.
Steinmeier welcomed the progress made toward peace and the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing Germany's support for further efforts to achieve a comprehensive peace agreement.
The German president also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between Berlin and Baku, describing Azerbaijan as a key partner for Germany in the South Caucasus, particularly in the fields of energy and the economy.
