Oman, Azerbaijan Move Toward Double Taxation Agreement to Boost Economic Ties

Oman’s parliament is set to review a key agreement with Azerbaijan aimed at eliminating double taxation and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The proposed treaty, which will be discussed during a session of the Council of Oman, seeks to prevent double taxation on income while also establishing measures to combat tax evasion, The Caspian Post reports via Oman Observer.

If approved, the agreement is expected to make cross-border business and investment more attractive by reducing tax burdens for companies and individuals operating in both countries.

Secretary General of the Shura Council of Oman Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi said that the parliament continues to play a central role in shaping legislation and reviewing international agreements that support the country's economic development and public policy objectives.

Azerbaijan's tax agreement is among several important items on the parliament’s agenda. Lawmakers are also expected to consider proposals related to social welfare, economic modernization, housing programs, tourism development, and agricultural planning.
