The 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States has officially opened in Azerbaijan's capital Baku, bringing together hundreds of lawmakers, parliamentary speakers, and international representatives from across the Islamic world.
Held under the theme “Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development in OIC Member States through Parliamentary Cooperation,” the high-level gathering is expected to welcome more than 400 participants, including over 40 parliamentary delegations, speakers of parliament from more than 10 countries, and representatives of 10 international organizations, The Caspian Post reports via Azertac.
Over the coming days, delegates will discuss ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation, support economic growth, and address shared challenges facing OIC member states.
The conference agenda includes meetings of the General Committee, Executive Committee, and Association of Secretaries General, alongside sessions of specialized committees focused on political affairs, international relations, economic development, environmental issues, legal and cultural cooperation, interfaith dialogue, human rights, and women and family affairs.
Participants will also review key policy documents and proposals aimed at enhancing collaboration among OIC member states.
The session, hosted by Azerbaijan's capital, will continue through June 25, further reinforcing Baku’s role as a platform for international dialogue and multilateral cooperation.
