Syrian Leader Expresses Gratitude for Azerbaijan’s Ongoing Support

Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Al-Sharaa has expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s continued brotherly support to Syria.

The remarks were made during an expanded meeting between the two leaders held in Baku on July 12. During the talks, Al-Sharaa warmly recalled their earlier meeting at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and praised the positive momentum in the dialogue between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports, citing local media.

Reflecting on past challenges, Al-Sharaa voiced regret over the deterioration of Syria’s foreign relations under the previous government, which also impacted ties with Azerbaijan.

Looking to the future, the Syrian leader emphasized his country’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan across multiple sectors, including political dialogue, trade and economic relations, cultural exchange, and humanitarian collaboration.
