Iran Pushes for Stronger Cooperation with Georgia

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of boosting cooperation between Iran and Georgia amid the evolving dynamics of the Caucasus region.

Speaking in a meeting with the newly-appointed ambassador of Iran to Georgia in Tehran on Monday, Pezeshkian stressed the need to promote the interaction between Tehran and Tbilisi on developing transit-economic cooperation and strengthening bilateral dialogues, The Caspian Post reports, citing Iranian media.

He pointed to the strategic role of the Caucasus in new regional and international developments, noting, “In the contemporary world of today, this region is one of the important communications routes connecting Asia and Europe.”

Pezeshkian emphasized the necessity of promoting cooperation and interatom with the countries of this region, including Georgia.

He pointed to the deep historical and cultural relations between Iran and Georgia and termed these ties as a part of interaction of nations and a valuable asset for expanding sustainable cooperation.
