First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan Akramjon Nematov said that Azerbaijan’s accession to the Consultative Meeting Platform of Central Asian Heads of State has been positively received by the expert community.
Speaking at a panel session on “Regional Security of C6 in Conditions of Global Instability,” Nematov described Azerbaijan’s integration into the platform as a logical culmination of the country’s rapprochement with Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
A Structured Security Space
“The formalization of Azerbaijan’s closer ties with Central Asian states during Uzbekistan’s chairmanship is very encouraging. Azerbaijan is joining an already structured security space,” Nematov said.
He noted that Central Asian countries have managed to build a regional framework based on a non-bloc character, creating a community that prioritizes cooperation over alignment with military alliances.
Foundation for Regional Cooperation
The Uzbek expert noted that the consultative mechanism now serves not only to define the main vectors of regional development but also to shape the foundation of cooperation across political, economic, and security domains.
