Azerbaijan will showcase two highly artistic and conceptual programs-“Jangi: The Embodiment of Heroism in the Dance Genre” and “Historical-Musical Parallels in the Traditional Music of Azerbaijan and Altai”-at the annual Ruh Sanat International Culture and Music Festival, which will be held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, from August 1-3.
The event will also feature a thematic presentation by Maryam Gafarzade, Deputy Director of the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku, on ICESCO’s activities and the importance of intercultural cooperation in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, The Caspian Post reports.
The festival is organized by the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Scientific Research Center for Traditional Culture and Art of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and the Kyrgyz National Theatre "Manas".
Cultural and artistic figures from over 30 countries are taking part in the event.
The festival’s program includes an International Congress, a Traditional Music Market, and an International Contest.
The International Congress is a scientific and practical platform focused on the theoretical and applied aspects of traditional culture and art. Scientists, researchers, masters, and experts from various countries will gather to exchange knowledge, discuss current challenges, and develop strategies for the protection, preservation, development, promotion, and integration of cultural heritage in a modern context.
The Traditional Music Market serves as a professional space for interaction between performers, producers, festival organizers, masters, and creative groups. It includes:
Exhibition: A presentation of traditional musicians, ensembles, and creative groups showcasing the unique musical art of their peoples. The exhibition also features musical instruments, handicrafts, and audiovisual materials reflecting the richness and diversity of cultural traditions.
Speed Meeting: A format for professional networking and partnership-building.
Showcases: Live performances by artists, offering the opportunity to present their repertoire to international promoters and curators.
The International Contest provides a platform for performers to demonstrate their mastery, professionalism, and depth in traditional music. The competition covers both vocal and instrumental categories and is open to bearers of oral-professional musical traditions and creative groups.
