Flower Festival Kicks Off in Uzbekistan's Namangan

The festival traditionally kicked off with a car parade at the “air gateway” of the valley - Namangan International Airport, Uzbekistan.

Unique cars, decorated with various flowers, drove through the central streets and arrived at the square adjacent to the Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur Park of Culture and Recreation. Among them were retro cars from the 1960s and 1970s, and new models of electric vehicles and scooters, The Caspian Post reports citing UzA.

The grand opening ceremony of the International Flower Festival was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, foreign delegations, officials of international companies and investors, international partners, as well as cultural and artistic figures from around twenty countries, including the European Union, Pakistan, Oman, Japan, the Czech Republic, Iran, Belarus, India, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

The Hokim of Namangan region and member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Abdurazakov, congratulated those gathered on this wonderful celebration, noting that the creative events to be held within the framework of the festival would bring everyone special joy.

More than 150 international, national, and local forums, cultural-educational events, and mass sports competitions will be organized. Visitors can become acquainted with unique floral compositions created in Babur Park and the themed “Valley of Legends” park in Davlatabad district. In addition, flowers have been planted across 45 hectares in the New Uzbekistan Park.

Special tourist packages have been developed to better organize tourist leisure during the 64th International Flower Festival. Visitors can explore unique scenic spots in Pap, Yangikurgan, Chust, Kasansay, and Chartak districts of Namangan region. Thanks to this new initiative, it is expected that this year’s festival will attract about 750,000 foreign and 6.5 million domestic tourists.

Over the 40 days of the festival, a series of increasingly exciting events is planned. These include an open-air concert by the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan, an international meeting of Uzbekistan - Türkiye filmmakers, the 2nd Namangan International Handicrafts Exhibition, a show program featuring global pop stars, a range of international scientific-practical conferences, Fashion Week, a talent show, the “Ovoz” and “X-Factor” competitions, sports tournaments, handicraft exhibitions, a pilaf cooking competition, and many others.
