Turkish security forces have neutralized a suspected member of the terrorist group ISIS who called for an attack during the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.
The suspect was reportedly using social media platforms to issue instructions and encourage acts of violence targeting the high-profile gathering scheduled for July 7-8, The Caspian Post reports via NTV.
Turkish police launched an anti-terror operation on June 23 and raided a residence linked to the suspect as part of heightened security measures ahead of the summit.
The suspect resisted arrest and was wounded during the operation. He was later taken to a hospital, where he reportedly died while attempting to escape. His wife was also injured during the raid.
The operation comes as Türkiye strengthens security across the capital in preparation for the NATO summit, which is expected to bring together senior officials and delegations from alliance member states.
