Russian Ports See Modest Decline in Cargo Turnover

Cargo turnover at Russian seaports declined by 0.4% year-on-year in 2025, totaling 884.5 million tons, according to data published by the Association of Sea Trade Ports (ASOP) on its website.

“Cargo turnover at Russian seaports for the 12 months of 2025 decreased by 0.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 884.5 million tons,” the association said, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.

ASOP informed that dry cargo transshipment reached 441.7 million tons, down 0.2% compared to the previous year, while liquid bulk cargo transshipment amounted to 442.8 million tons, a decrease of 0.5%.

During 2025, Russian ports handled 696.6 million tons of export cargo, reflecting a 0.6% decline. Import cargo transshipment fell by 3.9% to 41.2 million tons. At the same time, transit cargo volumes increased by 10.0% to 71.5 million tons, while cabotage cargo decreased by 5.0% to 75.2 million tons.
