Georgia’s pro-EU Opposition Continues Protests in Tbilisi
Protests in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, continue following the controversial October 26 parliamentary elections, which the opposition claims were manipulated to benefit the ruling Georgian Dream party.
Demonstrations in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, continue in the wake of the October 26 parliamentary elections, which the pro-EU opposition claims were rigged in favor of the ruling Georgian Dream party.
The rally “We are Europe” was resumed Monday, which was joined by the chairmen of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the 8 EU countries, The Caspian Post reports, citing Georgian media.
The rally participants chanted the "Georgia is Europe!" slogan.
The chairmen of the Foreign Relations Committee of the 8 EU countries, who are visiting Georgia, have already joined the action on Rustaveli Avenue. Members of the delegation marched to the ongoing rally in front of the Parliament building.
The participants of the protest do not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections and, accordingly, the legitimacy of the parliament and demand that re-elections be held.
After the speeches of the representatives of Georgian opposition parties and civil society, the chairmen of the foreign committees of the parliament of 8 countries addressed the gathered public.
