Kyrgyzstan's Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev met with Nicolas Faye, the Ambassador of France to the country, The Caspian Post reports citing Akipress.

"Kyrgyzstan is interested in strengthening partnership with France, which is considered an advanced country not only in Europe, but also in the world. The issue of trade and economic relations has a special priority, since we have great potential in this area. In addition, we can develop cooperation through implementation of investment projects in energy, mining and tourism sectors," the Parliament Speaker said.

Speaker Shakiev noted the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in expanding bilateral relations and added the need to hold meetings of deputies.

"In April of this year, the head of the France-Central Asia friendship group in the French Senate Hervé Moret visited Kyrgyzstan on a working visit and held a number of high-level meetings. We need to organize such meetings at the level of leadership of the parliament and chairmen of parliament committees," Speaker Shakiev said.

"Geographically, our countries are located far from each other, but despite this, we can deepen the already established ties, as modern realities require," he added.

French Ambassador Nicolas Faye briefly informed about his work as a diplomat. He expressed his readiness to assist in the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, paying special attention to the organization of bilateral visits.
