Countries participating in the program are required to ratify and effectively implement 27 international conventions. Using the GSP+ status gives the right to duty-free import of more than 6,000 items of goods to EU countries.

The European Commission mission in Kyrgyzstan assessed the country's compliance with 27 international conventions as part of its GSP+ status, according to the press service of the Kyrgyz Republic's Ministry of Economy and Commerce, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

According to the ministry, the main purpose of the visit was to monitor the implementation of commitments, as well as to assist in strengthening institutional mechanisms for the effective implementation of international standards.

During the visit, representatives of the European Commission held a series of meetings with key government agencies and experts to assess the current state of implementation of commitments and to discuss measures aimed at further improving and complying with international standards in the field of good governance, human labor rights, environmental protection and climate change, as well as other important aspects.

At the final meeting, Deputy Minister Sanjarbek Bolotov expressed his intention to strengthen and further develop cooperation. "We attach utmost importance to fulfilling commitments under 27 international conventions. The Ministry is fully committed to continuing the dialogue both in the context of access to GSP+ instruments and in other areas of interaction," he said.

GSP+ is a special EU program for sustainable development and public administration that supports developing countries. Countries participating in the program are required to ratify and effectively implement 27 international conventions. Using the GSP+ status gives the right to duty-free import of more than 6,000 items of goods to EU countries. These are mainly agricultural products such as fruits, processed fruits (canned goods, juices), dried fruits and nuts (walnuts, almonds, pistachios), raw materials (beans, peas), food products, tobacco, as well as textiles, felt products, clothing, including leather, carpets, etc.
