Kyrgyzstan is actively seeking British investment to help modernize its railway sector and improve its transportation infrastructure, as part of broader efforts to strengthen economic integration in Central Asia.
The appeal was made by Ulan Primov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan’s Parliamentary Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration, during a meeting with UK Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Nicholas Bowler, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kabar news agency.
Primov emphasized that the country is focusing on developing cross-border transport corridors and improving logistics infrastructure, making the railway sector a key area for potential British investment.
"Currently, there is significant attention given to the development of cross-border transport corridors and logistics infrastructure in the country. We invite British investors to focus on the road sector and the modernization of rail transport, which are crucial to strengthening economic integration in Central Asia," Primov stated.
In addition to transportation, Primov noted that Kyrgyzstan is also eager to attract investment in its hydropower and renewable energy sectors, aligning with the country’s broader goals for a green economy.
Ambassador Bowler acknowledged the progress made in bilateral cooperation, particularly in education and the employment of Kyrgyz citizens in the UK, and expressed hope for future collaboration on long-term initiatives across other sectors.
