The US Treasury Department has extended an economic sanctions waiver allowing Lukoil-branded service stations in foreign markets to continue their routine consumer operations.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) said the authorization permits “all transactions ... ordinarily incident and necessary” for operating or winding down service stations outside Russia. The license remains valid until April 24, The Caspian Post reports, citing Anadolu Agency.
The measure also allows Lukoil’s subsidiaries to debit and credit previously frozen bank accounts to cover routine operating expenses.
However, the license explicitly prohibits “the transfer of funds to any person or account located in the Russian Federation” and excludes any financial transactions involving the Russian central bank.
The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump unveiled a diesel supply agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, under which Moscow agreed to supply fuel to the United States and global markets.
