Polish police have arrested five Georgian citizens for the beating and robbery of a Belarusian citizen in Warsaw's Ochota district.

The suspects fled the scene after carrying out the brutal attack. Warsaw police later located and arrested them in the village of Duchnów, The Caspian Post reports, citing RMF FM.

Officers also recovered some of the stolen belongings during a search of the suspects' residence. The detained men are between 23 and 29 years old.

RMF FM reported that the incident took place in late July. A 25-year-old Belarusian citizen had just deposited money into an ATM when he was attacked by a group of five men, who also attempted to force him into a car. During the assault, the victim sustained head injuries. The attackers stole his bag containing several thousand zlotys in cash, as well as his mobile phone.

The five suspects have been charged with robbery and attempted kidnapping. A court has ordered that they remain in custody for three months while the investigation continues.
