Georgia, China Boost Ties With New Shanghai–Tbilisi Air Route

Shanghai and Tbilisi will soon be connected by direct flights, marking a major boost in air travel links between China and Georgia.

The decision was announced after talks in China between Georgia’s economy minister and executives of China Eastern Airlines. Officials said the new route reflects the growing political and economic partnership between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports via Georgian media.

Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili said that the launch of direct service is expected to strengthen people-to-people ties, expand business opportunities, support Georgia’s tourism sector, and generate additional revenue.

China Eastern Airlines will operate regular flights on the Shanghai-Tbilisi-Shanghai route three times per week.
