Iran and Mali Foreign Ministers Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

On Thursday evening, Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop held a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi during the NAM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Kampala, Tehran reported on October 17.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations between Iran and Mali and explored ways to expand economic and trade cooperation, The Caspian Post reports citing Iranian media.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to hold the Joint Economic Commission between the two countries at the earliest possible opportunity.

The two top diplomats also underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation between Iran and Mali within the United Nations and other international organizations.

The discussions further covered the importance of solidarity and cooperation among NAM member states to safeguard the rights and interests of the Global South, as well as Iran-Africa cooperation and the Palestine issue.
