On Thursday, Iran renewed its call for immediate dialogue between the Taliban and Pakistan to ease border tensions and resolve their disputes entirely through diplomacy, after a ceasefire was reached between the two sides.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei welcomed the ceasefire and urged both countries “to begin talks at once with the goal of reducing tension, ending all conflict, and settling differences through diplomacy, ” The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.

Baghaei also emphasized the importance of mutual respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of both states.

He said Iran stands ready to assist in preserving peace and de‑escalating tensions between its neighboring Muslim nations.

Expressing sorrow over harm to civilians in both countries, he called for stronger regional and multilateral cooperation to prevent terrorism and address instability.

UNAMA has said that the border clashes have killed 37 people and have wounded 425 others.

Pakistan on Wednesday carried out airstrikes in Kabul and Kandahar, which was followed by a 48-hour ceasefire between the two sides.
