Iran's military says it has shot down a US drone over the southern city of Bandar Abbas, as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to escalate.
According to Iran's army, air defense units detected, intercepted, and destroyed what it described as a "hostile Lucas-type" drone over Bandar Abbas County near Hajiabad while responding to what it called enemy attacks and protecting the country's airspace, The Caspian Post reports via Anadolu Agency.
The claim comes just hours after the United States reportedly launched a new wave of strikes targeting military and infrastructure sites across Iran. The attacks hit locations in Bushehr, Khuzestan, and Hormozgan provinces, as well as rail infrastructure connecting Tehran and Mashhad.
Iran has not provided additional details about the downed aircraft, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US officials regarding the reported drone incident.
