US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have discussed the possibility of launching strikes against Iran in 2026 during a recent meeting in Florida.

Trump would likely support such strikes if Washington concludes that Iran is taking concrete steps to restore its nuclear program, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

However, a key challenge would be reaching agreement on what constitutes a nuclear revival. Trump and Netanyahu did not reach specific agreements on the timing of potential strikes or the criteria for carrying them out.

During the meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, Netanyahu agreed to move forward with the second phase of Trump’s Gaza peace plan. Trump, in turn, reportedly promised to allow Israel to use military force against Hamas if the group fails to honor agreements and begin disarmament.

Speaking at a joint press conference after the talks, Trump said Hamas would be given “very little time” to disarm, warning that otherwise it would face a “very heavy price.” He added that the process would be overseen by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law, businessman Jared Kushner.

Trump also stated that while the US remains open to dialogue with Iran, it is prepared to use force if necessary, warning that the consequences would be more severe than previous strikes on nuclear facilities.
