The U.S. is considering the possibility of striking Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This information was reported by foreign journalists citing an unnamed American official, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

"One option is a 'strike to remove the top leadership.' That is, a strike on the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei," Politico writes.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that an attempt on Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would lead to the end, rather than the escalation, of the confrontation between Iran and Israel. In January, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened strong intervention in the situation surrounding the protests in Iran.
