More than 150 passengers on a charter flight from Sanya to Astana were stranded on China's Hainan Island for 27 hours after their departure was delayed due to a technical problem.
The delay was reported by passengers on the social media platform Threads, Kazinform reports.
According to their accounts, around 30 elderly women and 20 children were among those waiting for the flight. Some passengers reportedly had to sleep on airport seats while waiting for departure.
Air Astana explained that flight KC584, originally scheduled for November 4, was postponed until the following day because of a technical malfunction involving low pressure in the aircraft's green hydraulic system.
The airline said the defective component had been replaced.
Air Astana also stated that affected passengers were provided with transportation, meals, and hotel accommodation during the delay.
The aircraft eventually departed from Sanya at 10:07 a.m. (GMT+5) on November 5, with arrival in Astana scheduled for 2:45 p.m.
The total delay amounted to 27 hours.
