Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has stated that since 2023, Kazakhstan transported a total of 3.4 million tons of oil to the global market via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
Shahbazov made these remarks during the 21st meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Economic Cooperation in Baku, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
Shahbazov emphasized the successful energy partnership between the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas, particularly in the transit of Kazakh oil through Azerbaijan.
Highlighting future prospects, he stated, “There are plans to potentially increase the volume to 7 million tons per year by 2027, with further growth expected on mutually beneficial terms.”
The BTC pipeline, which began operation on July 13, 2006, stretches 1,768 kilometers in total-passing through Azerbaijan (443 km), Georgia (249 km), and Türkiye (1,076 km)-serving as a vital corridor for regional energy exports.
