Baku Hosts 21st Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Economic Commission, Boosting Bilateral Ties

The 21st meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Economic Cooperation kicked off in Baku on October 14, signaling renewed momentum in bilateral relations.

The session is co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev. The agenda focuses on deepening economic, trade, transport, and investment ties between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

According to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, bilateral trade between January and August 2025 reached $547.6 million - a 3.18‑fold increase compared to the same period last year.

Key exports from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan include:

Wheat - $121.5 million

Oil and oil products - $38.2 million

Economic integration between the two countries is further reflected in investment flows and corporate presence. Approximately 1,500 companies with Azerbaijani capital operate in Kazakhstan, while around 150 Kazakh-invested firms have been established in Azerbaijan.

Between 2005 and 2024, Azerbaijan invested some $420.8 million into Kazakhstan’s economy, while Kazakh investments in Azerbaijan totaled $156.1 million, according to the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
