On August 31, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

President Aliyev congratulated President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the successful first elections to the country’s new parliament, the Qurultay, during a meeting in Bishkek, Azertac reports.

The Azerbaijani leader noted that the elections provided another indication of the Kazakh people’s support for the large-scale reforms being carried out under Tokayev’s leadership.

Tokayev thanked Aliyev for his congratulatory letter and for the active participation of Azerbaijani observers in the elections.

During the meeting, the leaders highlighted the successful development of strategic partnership and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

They stressed the importance of mutual visits and high-level contacts in further strengthening bilateral ties.

Aliyev and Tokayev also discussed transport and logistics cooperation, with particular attention to the growing importance of the Middle Corridor.

The presidents exchanged views on prospects for expanding cooperation along the route and improving regional connectivity.

The leaders also touched on preparations for the CICA summit in Baku, discussing the significance of the upcoming event.

The meeting also covered planned high-level contacts and other issues of mutual interest, highlighting the continued expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
