Baku to Host Next Round of Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Economic Commission Soon

The Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Economic Cooperation is set to hold its next session in Baku on October 13-14.

This upcoming meeting follows the 20th session, which was held in March 2024 in Astana. The commission is co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s minister of energy and Kazakhstan’s minister of transport, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $301.8 million in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 7.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. Major exports from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan include wheat valued at $101.6 million, crude oil worth $66.2 million, and petroleum products totaling $8.7 million. Key imports from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan consist of seamless pipes, tubes, and profiles made of ferrous metals valued at $10.8 million, as well as ethylene polymers at $1.3 million.

Kazakhstan currently hosts approximately 1,500 companies with Azerbaijani capital, while Azerbaijan is home to around 150 companies with Kazakh investment.

Data from Kazakhstan’s National Bank shows that investments from Azerbaijan into Kazakhstan amounted to $420.8 million between 2005 and 2024, while Kazakh investments in Azerbaijan totaled $156.1 million during the same period.
