Cyprus President to Make Historic First Official Visit to Kazakhstan

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is set to make his first official visit to Kazakhstan, marking a new chapter in relations between the two countries.

Christodoulides will arrive in Astana on June 2 aboard a direct flight, becoming the first Cypriot president to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan, The Caspian Post reports via Orda.kz.

A key highlight of the trip will be talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on June 3. The leaders are expected to hold both one-on-one and expanded delegation meetings aimed at strengthening political, economic, and cultural cooperation.

During the visit, Tokayev is expected to award Christodoulides the Order of Dostyk, one of Kazakhstan’s highest state honors, in recognition of efforts to enhance bilateral relations.

The two countries are also set to sign several cooperation agreements covering higher education, scientific research, culture, sports, information and communication technologies, cybersecurity, and e-government initiatives.

As part of his agenda, the Cypriot president will participate in the Cyprus-Kazakhstan Business Forum, visit the Alem AI International Artificial Intelligence Center, and officially open Cyprus’ embassy in Astana.

The visit is expected to boost cooperation across multiple sectors while deepening ties between Kazakhstan and the European Union member state.

Following joint statements to the media with President Tokayev, Christodoulides is scheduled to return to Cyprus on June 4.
