Drone Strikes Damage Two Tankers Near Kazakhstan's Oil Hub

Two oil tankers have been attacked by drones near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal, which handles about 80 per cent of Kazakhstan’s oil exports.

The Delta Harmony, managed by Greek company Delta Tankers, was set to load oil from the Tengizchevroil project, while the Matilda, operated by Greek company Thenamaris, awaited oil from the Karachaganak field, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.

A Thenamaris representative confirmed that Matilda was hit by two drones roughly 30 miles from the CPC terminal, causing minor deck damage. No injuries were reported, and the vessel left the area after the attack.

The CPC pipeline is a major route for Kazakhstan’s oil, transporting crude to Russia and onward for export through the Novorossiysk marine terminal on the Black Sea, through which roughly 80 per cent of Kazakhstan’s oil exports pass.
