Kazakh Tourism and Sports Minister Yerbol Myrzabosynov has said that in 2025, Kazakhstan cemented its place on the global sports map, hosting major international competitions and achieving historic athletic milestones.
For the first time, Kazakh athletes won gold in short track speed skating at the Asian Games and claimed their inaugural medals in fencing and freestyle acrobatics, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.
Strong performances were also seen in judo, boxing, rhythmic gymnastics, figure skating, archery, and parabiathlon. Kazakh football club Kairat reached a landmark by qualifying for the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Kazakhstan hosted a series of international events, including stages of the Boxing and Freestyle World Cups, Grand Slam judo tournaments, and competitions across multiple Olympic sports. The country also welcomed the conference and General Assembly of the Asian Paralympic Committee for the first time, highlighting its growing role as a hub for inclusive sports in Asia.
