How Much Has Kazakhstan Earned From Google Tax?

Kazakhstan has generated 136 billion tenge in value-added tax (VAT) revenue from foreign digital companies since introducing the so-called Google tax in 2022, according to the State Revenue Committee.

The tax, which applies to overseas firms providing digital services and e-commerce to individuals in Kazakhstan, brought in 57.6 billion tenge in 2025 alone and 8.7 billion tenge in January 2026, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.

Authorities said that 120 foreign companies have registered in Kazakhstan since the measure came into force, including 22 that signed up in 2025.

The government introduced the Google tax to ensure fair competition in the domestic market, improve tax compliance in the digital sector, and reduce the shadow economy without the need for on-site inspections.
