Kazakh Citizens Safe Amid Thailand–Cambodia Border Clashes

Recent clashes along the Thailand-Cambodia border pose no threat to Kazakh tourists.

Spokesman for the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Aibek Smadiyarov noted that while about 3,000 Kazakh nationals visit Thailand daily, fewer than 150 are registered with the consulate, and most stay in areas far from the conflict zone, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

“The clashes are hundreds to thousands of kilometers away from resort areas. Citizens have no reason to worry, but should avoid restricted zones,” Smadiyarov said.

The foreign ministry continues monitoring the situation, but given the stable conditions in tourist destinations, no special travel advisories have been issued.

The clashes began after Thailand launched air raids along the disputed border, following a confrontation that left one Thai soldier and four Cambodian civilians dead.
