Kazakh Leader Thanks Putin After Visit, Hails New “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Alliance”

Following his recent state visit to the Russian Federation, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a letter of gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin - underscoring the significance of the two nations’ upgraded ties.

President Tokayev praised the “warm, trusting, and open atmosphere” that ensured the visit’s success and resonated positively with the Kazakh public, The Caspian Post reports per Kazakh media.

A New Level of Partnership

President Tokayev highlighted the importance of the newly signed Declaration on the Transition of Inter-State Relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Alliance, calling it a major step forward that will “significantly strengthen multifaceted cooperation” between Kazakhstan and Russia.

The state visit took place on November 11-12, upon Putin’s formal invitation.

An Extraordinary Welcome in Moscow

Tokayev’s arrival was marked with exceptional honors:

Fighter jets and helicopters escorted the presidential aircraft in midair.

A military band and honor guard welcomed the Kazakh delegation at Vnukovo Airport.

The two leaders held informal talks on bilateral relations before Putin hosted an official dinner.

Key Events of the Visit

During his time in Moscow, President Tokayev:

Laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Alexander Garden.

Met with Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Federation Council.

Joined the 21st Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum via videoconference from Uralsk.

Historic Declaration Signed

Capping the visit, Tokayev and Putin officially signed the Declaration elevating bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance - a move expected to deepen cooperation in politics, security, trade, and regional development.
