Kazakhstan and the US are looking to deepen their strategic ties as President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor in Astana.
During the meeting, Tokayev highlighted the strong Kazakhstan-US relations and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to expanding its strategic partnership with Washington across a range of key sectors, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.
A major focus of the discussions was the growing importance of critical minerals cooperation. The Kazakh president underscored the strategic role of the C5+1 Dialogue on Critical Minerals, describing it as an important platform for strengthening economic cooperation and supporting sustainable development across Central Asia.
As global demand for critical minerals continues to rise due to the expansion of clean energy technologies, advanced manufacturing, and digital industries, Kazakhstan is positioning itself as a key partner in international supply chains.
Tokayev reiterated that Kazakhstan remains committed to further strengthening cooperation with the US and advancing joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest.
The president also conveyed his best wishes to US President Donald Trump and expressed appreciation for the invitation to attend the G20 Summit in Miami later this year.
