Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Witold Bańka in Astana, underscoring the importance of the agency’s global role in combating doping in sports.
President Tokayev described Bańka’s visit as a key moment in strengthening the partnership between Kazakhstan and WADA, The Caspian Post informs via Kazakh media.
He commended the agency’s steadfast efforts to tackle systemic doping violations and maintain the integrity of sport, emphasizing that clean competition benefits both athletes and fans worldwide.
Kazakhstan hosts the only anti-doping laboratory in Central Asia, under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which also functions as the Regional Anti-Doping Organization’s hub, serving Kazakhstan and neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Afghanistan.
Expressing appreciation for Kazakhstan’s active engagement and cooperation with WADA, President Bańka highlighted the strong partnership with Kazakhstani sports authorities.
Both leaders pledged to deepen long-term cooperation, further cementing Kazakhstan’s role as a trusted and responsible partner in global anti-doping efforts.
In recognition of his contributions to Kazakh sports, President Tokayev awarded Witold Bańka the Dostyq Order, II degree.
