A shocking incident in Kazakhstan saw a mother throw her two children - a five-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy - from a fifth-floor window.

Both children survived the fall, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The children, born in 2021 and 2023, were rushed to the regional children’s hospital in Zhambyl with multiple injuries. Doctors reported that both suffered traumatic brain injuries and cerebral swelling. The girl also sustained a fractured femur and is scheduled for surgery the following day.

A criminal case for attempted murder of minors has been launched. The mother has been detained and placed in custody, authorities said.
