Kazakh President Meets Azerbaijani Religious Leader to Strengthen Interfaith Dialogue

On the sidelines of the eighth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, highlighting Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan’s shared commitment to fostering interreligious dialogue and mutual trust between nations.

The president expressed confidence that their joint efforts to foster mutual understanding and cooperation among faiths would provide a strong foundation for long-term bilateral partnership, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Astana is hosting the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions on September 17. Earlier, President Tokayev held meetings with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, as well as representatives of Jewish organizations. During the congress, he awarded state honors to prominent religious leaders and welcomed Miguel Ángel Moratinos in his new role as UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia.
