Azerbaijan Forms Joint Groups with Three Countries to Tackle Caspian Sea Decline

Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov has said that Azerbaijan established joint working groups with three neighboring Caspian states to address the ongoing decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea.

Ismayilov said that the initiative was announced during an event dedicated to World Environment Day, marked on June 5, The Caspian Post reports via Report.

The minister stated that Azerbaijan is taking coordinated steps with coastal countries to mitigate the environmental and economic impacts of the Caspian Sea’s receding water levels.

He noted that bilateral working groups have been set up with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Russia. These groups are expected to focus on joint scientific research into the causes of the decline, data sharing, environmental monitoring, and the development of adaptation measures.
