Kazakhstan, Hong Kong Join Forces to Expand Agricultural Exports Across Asia

Kazakhstan is taking a major step toward expanding its agricultural footprint in Asia after signing a new partnership with a Hong Kong-based company to boost exports of grain, oilseeds, legumes, and wheat flour.

The agreement was signed between Kazakhstan’s Food Contract Corporation and Soy Sky Farmtech Company Limited, with both sides aiming to strengthen access to markets in China and Southeast Asia, The Caspian Post reports via Kazinform.

Under the memorandum, Hong Kong will serve as a strategic gateway for Kazakh agricultural products entering the wider Asia-Pacific region. The partners will initially focus on sharing market intelligence, assessing export potential, and improving trade and logistics connections.

The cooperation also includes plans to promote Kazakh soybeans and processed soy products internationally, while exploring opportunities to develop soybean cultivation and processing within Kazakhstan. Soy Sky Farmtech has expressed readiness to supply soybean seeds to local farmers as part of these efforts.

In addition, the parties discussed financing mechanisms such as forward contracts to support agricultural producers and encourage crop diversification. Soybeans are increasingly viewed as a promising crop under Kazakhstan’s agricultural development strategy.
