President Tokayev Highlights Farmers’ Success and Future Plans in Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Sector

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with leaders of agricultural enterprises to assess the state of the country’s agriculture, highlight farmers’ achievements, and address current challenges.

During the meeting, President Tokayev noted favorable weather conditions this year and underscored the government’s full support for the sector, including provision of fuel and concessional loans to farmers, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

He stressed the need to develop deep processing within agriculture, noting that output in 2024 reached 8.25 trillion tenge ($15.250 billion).

While agriculture accounts for just 6 per cent of Kazakhstan’s GDP, the sector has performed strongly compared to regional peers. The President emphasized the country’s 12 million-ton grain export potential as a major achievement, with Europe also importing Kazakh grain. He recalled that the first shipment of 15,000 tons was recently exported to Vietnam.

Looking ahead, President Tokayev announced that the II AgriForum will be held in Astana this November to discuss strategies for sector development and further support for the agro-industrial complex.

This year, the sown area in the Akmola region grew by 300,000 hectares, bringing the total to 5.5 million hectares, highlighting the ongoing expansion of agricultural production in Kazakhstan.
