Kazakh President Stresses Interreligious Harmony in Meeting with Muslim World League Leader

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with Muslim World League Secretary General Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa in Astana, emphasizing that interreligious and intercultural harmony is a core priority of Kazakhstan’s domestic and foreign policy.

The president thanked Sheikh Al-Issa for his consistent support of Kazakhstan’s initiatives to promote interfaith dialogue and for his significant contribution to advancing peace and harmony, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The Kazakh leader highlighted that the Congress, held regularly for more than two decades, provides a vital platform for uniting efforts to strengthen global security and stability. President Tokayev also expressed confidence in the continued expansion of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.

For his part, Sheikh Al-Issa commended the Congress as a unique platform for dialogue and the promotion of universal values, and wished Kazakhstan peace and prosperity.

In recognition of his role in fostering interfaith understanding and promoting Islamic civilization, President Tokayev awarded Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa the Order of Dostyk, First Degree.

Earlier, the president also sent a congratulatory message to Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
