Kazakh President Focuses on Cybercrime and Digital Protection at Security Council Session

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has chaired a session of Kazakhstan’s Security Council on cybersecurity and the protection of citizens’ digital environment.

During the meeting, the president reiterated his vision of transforming Kazakhstan into a fully digital nation, stressing that achieving this goal requires comprehensive measures, including strengthened cybersecurity frameworks, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The session focused on modern cyber threats and strategies to counter them, safeguarding critical information infrastructure, developing the cybersecurity industry, and improving personnel training. Presentations were made by Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry, and Yermek Sagimbayev, Chairman of the National Security Committee.

President Tokayev emphasized the urgency of combating cybercrime-particularly cyber fraud-and enhancing the capacities of government agencies involved in cybercrime investigations. He also highlighted the need to protect citizens’ personal data, increase accountability for data breaches, and promote public awareness of safe and responsible digital practices.

Following the meeting, President Tokayev instructed authorities to implement measures aimed at reducing strategic risks and resolving systemic cybersecurity challenges.
