Kazakhstan Braces for Black Ice, Fog and Strong Winds

A warm southern cyclone is set to displace the cold anticyclone over Kazakhstan within the next three days, bringing a sharp change in weather conditions.

Meteorologists warn of widespread snowfall and blizzards, icy roads, fog, and strong winds across much of the country, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

On December 30-31, rain and snow are expected in the Akmola, Pavlodar, Karaganda, and Ulytau regions, while southern areas will see rainfall.

Daytime temperatures in northern and central Kazakhstan are forecast to rise to between -2°C and +3°C on December 30, with similar warming expected in the east on December 30-31. In the south, daytime highs will climb to a mild +5°C to +15°C, signaling a brief thaw as the cyclone moves in.
