Kazakhstan–Canada Dialogue Opens Doors to Big Investments

Kazakhstan is stepping up its global economic outreach as a high-level business dialogue with Canada opens fresh avenues for cross-sector cooperation.

On April 13, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alibek Kuantyrov visited Toronto to engage with Canadian officials and business leaders, signaling a renewed push to attract foreign investment and strengthen bilateral ties, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

At the heart of the visit was the Kazakhstan-Canada Dialogue: Unlocking Cross-Sectoral Opportunities roundtable, co-chaired alongside Assistant Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade of Ontario Suzanne Skinner. The event brought together more than 25 Canadian companies actively exploring partnerships in Kazakhstan-highlighting growing business interest in Central Asia’s largest economy.

During the discussions, Kuantyrov presented Kazakhstan’s strong macroeconomic performance and emphasized its rising role as a strategic transport and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia. Participants pointed to the country’s steady growth and accelerating technological development as key factors driving investor confidence.

The visit also included high-level talks with Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Victor Fedeli, where both sides noted positive momentum in bilateral cooperation, including Ontario’s business mission to Astana in 2025.

Looking ahead, Kazakhstan extended an invitation for further engagement, with Kuantyrov inviting Fedeli to visit the country-underscoring ambitions to deepen economic ties and expand joint investment projects across priority sectors.

Meetings with leading Canadian companies further reinforced mutual interest in launching new ventures, as both nations eye long-term collaboration in trade, innovation, and infrastructure.
