Kazakhstan and China have strengthened scientific cooperation with the opening of a joint biosafety laboratory in Almaty, dedicated to research on infectious diseases, microbiology and public health.

The laboratory will operate at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), The Caspian Post reports via Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The facility will serve as a key platform for joint Kazakhstan-China research in biosafety, microbiology and the One Health concept, which links human, animal and environmental health.

Researchers are expected to study emerging infections, monitor animal diseases, analyze genomes and develop new technologies aimed at improving biological safety.

The project brings together leading research institutions from both countries.

Partners include the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, Zhejiang University and the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
